Edna Lankart Award
This award was originally named the Malcolm
Collie Award and was presented for the best
seedling by a Region 6 hybridizer who is not a member
of the host club. This trophy was created and named by the late Malcolm Collie
of Brownwood, Texas. In 1987, the Malcolm Collie Award was retired and replaced by
the Edna Lankart Award. The Malcolm Collie
Award, a small copper Indian
sculpture, was presented to Anna Rosa Glidden who was the last
winner of this award. Anna Rosa donated the trophy to Region 6 and it was
auctioned off at the 2012 Region 6 Meeting held in Nacogdoches, Texas, and was
purchased by Beth Zimpelman from Austin, Texas.
The original award Edna Lankart Award was a traveling award, a beautiful sculpture of the daylily
Hemerocallis 'Little Zinger', which was hybridized by Edna Lankart.
The metal sculpture was retired in 1999 and has been placed in the main hallway in the Tyler Rose Center
Building, Tyler, Texas. The metal sculpture was replaced by a medallion to be
awarded to the winner each year.
